Workshops
The
Autumn of 2007 brings some new workshops and the return of some popular old
ones. The format of workshops will b
e
3 hour sessions on a Saturday morning from 10am to 1pm. If a workshop gets
booked up (10 places on each one) there will be a waiting list for any
cancellations – or if there are more than 5 on the waiting list I will run the
workshop again in the afternoon of the same Saturday for those people.
I have decided to have a new pricing scheme – the workshops will be £40 – but if you book more than a month before (and pay!) you get £5 off. If you bring a friend who has not been to a workshop with me before you get £5 off your fee. So if you book early and bring a friend (and book them in early too) you get your workshop for £30 and the friend gets to come for £35 – a saving of £15!
Workshops are held at my studio at 33 High Street Graveley, Hitchin, Herts, SG4 7LA unless otherwise specified. The studio is equipped with Franklin Balls and Therabands for exercises that we may do. It also has all the anatomical models and resources we need. All you need to bring is some water and some enthusiasm for your body and the discovery of a better relationship with it. I would suggest that you wear the sort of clothes that would be appropriate for dancing, yoga or Pilates – i.e. something that is loose enough for you to move freely.
Many different types of people can attend and benefit from my workshops - indeed anyone who has a body and would like to have a better relationship with it will benefit from a workshop.
Health professionals like Osteopaths, Doctors, Physiotherapists and other bodyworkers, movement professionals like dance teachers, Pilates instructors, fitness instructors and yoga teachers will all also get a lot from these workshops. If you ever tell a client to do an exercise then you need to be able to do it yourself - to demonstrate and embody an exercise is the easiest way to impart it to another person. The experiential anatomy aspect of my workshops is a very useful refresher of practical, kinaestheticaly based anatomical knowledge. For hands on practitioners that kinaesthetic sense of the anatomy is invaluable.
Custom Workshops
Franklin Method has application in every part of our physical lives – in sport, in dance, in everyday life. If you are part of a club or a group I am happy to develop a custom workshop based on Franklin Method to help you achieve the specific goals of your movement discipline. I have developed a workshop specifically for Fencers (my sister is a Commonwealth fencer for Scotland) which will run this Autumn. If you would like to find out more about how I can develop a Custom Workshop for your club or group please get in touch – David Kellett DO, Franklin Method Teacher
